A half day staff workshop was held on 6 th December 2016 to discuss about the changing nature of work of Maldives Qualification Authority (MQA) and to brainstorm about strategies and activities in improving its functions. This was a timely workshop as MQA prepares to move forward with the implementation of new higher education quality assurance processes in Maldives. MQA staff, senior staff of Department of Higher Education and invited senior staff from stakeholder private and public Higher Education Institutions participated in the workshop.
The workshop provided the participants an opportunity to briefly review the development of MQA with changes to its mandate, preparations to commence new quality assurance processes of programme accreditation and institutional audit, and to conduct a SWOT analysis of MQA. Discussions were carried out to identify ways to strengthen specific functions of MQA. All stakeholders as well as MQA staff freely shared their opinions and ideas throughout the session. The outcome of the workshop was very productive.
The workshop, held at the training room of the National Institute of Education, Ghaazee Building, was conducted by MQA Consultant Dr. Ahmed Ali Manik with the support from the World Bank Project.
